My Whole Foods UK Experience

I promised myself that I would visit the Whole Foods store while in the UK. This store in Kensington is their first site in the UK. For those who are not familiar with them, they are the fresh food retailer from the USA; they are taking the market by storm in that country and in my view one of the top five inspirational merchandisers in the world. I went to Whole Foods at lunchtime on Friday. The merchandising and display was awesome, the customer service outstanding, but where were the customers? I did identify a lot of people in suits obviously being spies (I did at least wear jeans). I cannot explain why I did not see customers, but they will need a lot more to keep a three storey fresh food outlet profitable. In fact, I don’t believe a three level farm shop will work. I did like the lay out however, charity of the month and inspirational merchandising. I have already been told off for taking pictures in their Texas store, so I knew that photographers were a no-no in the Kensington store, but you can see the store lay out and pictures of their shop window below to give you a feel.
