The Challenge of Being Green

At JSA we are constantly analyzing how we can be greener in the way we run our business. We made the decision that we should move from 50% recycled paper to 100% recycled paper for the copier machine. We contacted our local stationery supplier and asked for 100% ERA (Environmentally Responsible Approach) paper. They said yes, we can do that, and we sat back thinking that we had moved the business forward. The paper arrived as promised and it was only when we opened the box did we realize we had not asked enough questions. On each ream of paper was a sticker “Country of origin the United Kingdom”. We had paid for recycled paper to be shipped halfway around the world. It has taught us that we need to be asking more questions and to be more informed when making these decisions. We wanted to be green and reduce our carbon footprint, we are not sure if we achieved this this time. Lesson learnt, I hope this helps you too.
