In recent weeks there has been a globalmovement to promote brest cancer awareness. My daughter in the UK recently entered a London run for women on behalf of raising money for breast cancer research. At the Chelsea Flower Show this year pink flowers were promoted with donations going to cancer research. At a recent seminar I presented at in New South Wales, pink containers and pink cyclamen were displayed on the table. This is a great month to get behind a great charity cause and to be seen to be doing something good in society, but, remember this is a fad not a trend and this type of prmotion will only last about a month. June is world cup month, the fad will change and another opportunity will occur to provide a promotion opportunity. A client of mine in New Zealand used the Olympics as a means of promoting events in the garden centre. Every time a New Zealander won a medal they build a promotional display to celebrate the win. This created a great deal of local publicity for the centre. Keeping in tune and touch with events will keep you in the customers mind and show you have a business that is in tune with society.
