We are all aware of how important showrooming is becoming in the consumers mind. At the Italian Conference recently, another speaker highlighted just how important it was becoming.
Of those that showroom, 57% test a product in store and then go to Amazon, hence my comments of late that Amazon is the real challenge for most retailers.
- 72% believe that they can get a better price online
- 45% plan to go and see the product and then buy online
- 24% end up buying online as the retailer does not have available product in stock
- 18% just do showrooming as it is more convenient to them
Showrooming may not be something that is happening ‘yet’ in your store, but it is a trend that will not go away and we need to train our teams on how to deal with the showrooming consumer.
